Sznazzy Portfolio Guidelines (Pre AP)

Portfolio Requirements

There are two ways you can present your portfolio:

#1- Through your website, section off each requirement below by pages

#2- Put together a presentation binder or bradded folder

Your BEST Personal Narrative Section– You will select your very best personal narrative essay and include it in your Personal Narrative Section of your portfolio. (see website for guidelines on how to score well on a personal narrative)  

Your BEST Expository Essay Section- You will select your very best expository essay and include it in your Expository Essay Section of your portfolio.

Poetry Section– Your poems must include 3 of the following elements: Figurative Language, Sound Devices, Graphic Elements or Imagery.  You may submit any of the following: haiku, concrete, free verse, or lyrical poetry (songs)

Letter Section-You will write one letter of reflection to me about your experience in my class this year and one letter to the campus principal, Dr. Stichler.  This letter will introduce yourself and lay out two suggestions on how to improve our campus for the coming year. (Both Letters must be in block form)

Blog Post Section-Over the course of the year, you will have posted many messages about what you have learned to your home page.  Please select your three best and present them in your Best Blog Post Page section of your portfolio.

Discussion Thread Comment Section-You have responded to a myriad of Discussion Thread prompts.  Please select your three best and present them in your Best Discussion Thread Page section of your portfolio.

Essay or Presentation from other classes Section-Please use an activity from another class that connects to subject matter we have addressed in this class.  Post an essay or project in this section.  (Extra Credit)

Independent Reading Report Section-Please select a book outside of this class and compose a report which gives a summation of plot, identifies important symbolism, themes, and how it connects to one of the class novels we have read this year.  (Extra Credit)

Lesson Re-Teach SectionStep by step, very clearly please explain a theme or concept you have learned in Language Arts this year.

SAT Vocabulary Section-Select your 10 favorite “seven way breakdowns” out of your 100 words we worked on this year.

About Me Page-See Guidelines for About Me on my home page 8/28.  You will construct one at the beginning of the year and one at the end…Look for the changes you have gone through
